Verification Policy

This policy explains what “verified”, “reviewed”, “approved” or similar status means on My Classifieds, what may be checked, what is not guaranteed, and how users should interpret platform trust signals.

1. Why We Have a Verification Policy

Trust labels can be misunderstood. Our goal is to use clear language so visitors know the difference between a listing being allowed to appear and a particular fact being independently checked.

We do not permit advertisers to invent platform verification badges or describe themselves as platform-verified when that status has not actually been assigned.

2. Listing Approval Is Not the Same as Identity Verification

A listing marked approved or published generally means it passed the platform's publishing or moderation process at that time. It does not automatically mean the identity, photographs, location, availability, services, contact ownership or every statement in the listing has been independently verified.

Important distinction: “Published” or “Approved” must not be interpreted as a guarantee of the advertiser, person depicted, transaction or offline interaction.

3. What May Be Checked

Where verification features are offered, different checks may apply depending on the verification type. A status should only represent the check actually completed.

Email checkConfirmation that an email address can receive a verification action.
Phone/contact checkConfirmation that a contact channel can complete a platform-defined verification step.
Account reviewReview of account history or information available to the platform.
Content reviewModeration of listing text, images or fields against platform rules.

Additional verification methods should be described at the point where they are offered. We should not imply that a stronger check occurred when it did not.

4. Verification Badges and Labels

If the platform displays a badge, label or verification mark, it applies only to the verification scope described for that badge. Advertisers must not copy, reproduce or imitate platform badges to create a false impression of verification.

  • A badge may be withdrawn if its underlying status changes.
  • Editing important account or listing information may trigger re-review.
  • A badge may be suspended while a complaint or inconsistency is reviewed.
  • Badges cannot be transferred to another person, account or listing.

5. What Verification Does Not Guarantee

Unless expressly stated for a specific verification product, verification does not guarantee:

  • that every photograph is current or depicts the person a visitor will meet;
  • that every service, price or availability statement is accurate at all times;
  • that a user or advertiser will behave safely or lawfully;
  • that an offline meeting or transaction is risk-free;
  • that a contact account cannot later be transferred, compromised or changed;
  • that a listing is endorsed or recommended by the platform.

6. Information Changes After Verification

Verification reflects information available at a point in time. If material information changes, the previous verification may no longer accurately represent the current listing.

Changes to contact details, identity-related information, important images or ownership may result in re-verification, badge suspension or removal.

7. Fake Verification and Misrepresentation

Advertisers must not write “verified by My Classifieds”, “100% verified”, “official”, or similar claims unless the platform has actually granted a corresponding status.

Fake verification screenshots, copied badges and fabricated trust claims may result in listing rejection or account action.

8. Verification Is Separate From Reviews

User reviews, ratings, popularity, featured placement, boosted placement and verification are different concepts. Paying for visibility must not automatically create an identity-verification claim, and a positive review must not be presented as proof of identity.

Sponsored, boosted or featured placement should be presented as advertising visibility, not as evidence that a listing is safer or more trustworthy.

9. User Responsibility

Visitors should use verification as one piece of information, not as a substitute for their own judgment. Protect sensitive information, be cautious about payment requests and independently assess communications before making decisions.

10. Reporting Incorrect Verification

If a verification badge appears to be used incorrectly, or a verified listing contains information that appears fraudulent or unauthorized, report the listing with the exact URL and a description of the issue.

Trust labels should be precise, not promotional promises.

Our aim is to show only the verification level that was actually completed and clearly explain its limits.
